The Pioneer Village

The South Arkansas Homesteading Conference will be held at the Pioneer Village, located at 200 Yaney Street in Rison. The Village itself is a collection of local historic buildings dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s that should  be open for viewing during the conference.

In addition, the grounds also serves as the home of the Rison Community Garden, a series of 4 foot x 8 foot raised beds where local residents grown their own vegetables. Four of the beds are set aside to conduct trials using various growing techniques for raised bed gardens. Some of the results from last year’s trials will be revealed during this year’s South Arkansas Homesteading Conference.  The newest addition to the Rison Community Garden is the do-it-yourself hoop house/high tunnel that allows gardeners to extend their growing season.
